WHAT IS CAMP KATE?
Camp Kate was created in the summer of 2010 as a fundraiser for Kate Jablonski’s New York Capezio Ace Award Professional Show. What began as a one day workshop, has grown to four levels of 2-3 day intensives attracting Kate Jablonski fans of all ages from across the globe. This intimate experience continues to draw dancers to Chicago every summer.
During this intensive, dancers have the opportunity to train with Kate in an intimate, positive, and fun setting. Classes in jazz, contemporary, musical theater, technique, progressions, conditioning, improvisation, and partnering – all taught by Kate herself – are included. In addition to classes, dancers are able to participate in the Campers’ Choreography Review, watch an original Kate Jablonski production at a discounted price, and perform in an impressive closing showcase for family and friends.
WHAT'S THE EXPERIENCE LIKE?
Camp Kate’s goal is to challenge each individual dancer not only in class
but also through performance opportunities. Aside from the incredible classes and exciting scholarships, Camp Kate includes a choreography showcase as well as an impressive closing show where dancers can share their progress from the week with family and friends.
Campers are encouraged to submit pieces in the
Campers’ Choreography Review, a showcase rather than competition,
that welcomes student choreography, works in progress, and competition routines that receives audio feedback from Kate. Kate’s favorite number in the show receives the prestigious “Kate’s Choice Award”. The winning
dance is professionally filmed and posted to the Camp Kate website and Kate’s YouTube channel, which has over 20 million views and reaches
70,000 subscribers. The winner is announced at the end of the showcase. The Campers’ Choreography Review creates a supportive environment where dancers can build confidence within themselves
and appreciate the talent of their fellow campers.
AND THE AWARD GOES TO. . .
On the last day of camp, dancers have the opportunity to audition for a variety of scholarships valid for Camp Kate. $100 scholarships toward Camp Kate are awarded in the categories of musical theater, jazz funk, lyrical, contemporary, and technique. A few deserving dancers who excel in all genres are selected as distinguished “Camp Kate All-Stars”. These dancers receive a coveted “Camp Kate All-Star” jacket and FREE tuition to next year’s Camp Kate!
Congratulations to our 2024 scholarship winners!
